This studio focused on understanding material behaviour through tactile, workshop-based learning. Working with bamboo, metal, and concrete, I designed and built a functional lamp that explored the interplay between structure and expression. Beginning with uncertainty and unfamiliar tools, I gradually gained confidence as I navigated the constraints and characteristics of each material. Through iteration, I fused the organic flexibility of bamboo with the strength of metal and the solidity of concrete. The form—a flower-inspired lamp—balanced natural curves with geometric rigidity, while the woven rattan softly filtered light, adding a sensory dimension to the final object. Each choice was informed by both material logic and emotional resonance. The process taught me to balance precision with improvisation, to think through my hands, and to let the workshop become a space of experimentation. This project was not just about making a product—it was about learning how materials shape both form and thought.
