Curatorial Note

Fractals are intricate geometric patterns that repeat, shift and evolve through self-replicating forms across multiple scales, while maintaining a semblance of unity. Much like fractals, the works of the graduating PGDP learners of 2024-25 depict a collective progress and evolution while each individual also pursues their own unique line of inquiry, following their own personal journeys.
Every learner’s journey unfolds differently, with their works interwoven to create a unified and yet non-uniform manifestation. In this compilation, the diverse individualities intertwine to create a complex web of provocations and propositions, forming a giant net of ideas, insights and imaginations. Such a process is mirrored in the creation of fractals, where multiple small-scale patterns or units come together to create giant complex structures, and each unit, while distinct, contributes to the whole.

The PGDP collective emulates the same, as every small-scale pattern represents an individual that, in turn, represents the building blocks, resulting in a shared interconnected web of ideas originating from their combination.


This layered, non-linear, and complex learning landscape emerged through deep immersion and discursive reflection on the learners’ journeys, facilitated through various unique art and design-led processes. The curation of the learning journeys happens in this final form, through five sections within which all fourteen learners were able to map their trajectories. The nature of the learning journeys has further been articulated by each individual through a metaphor that symbolises their unique experiential perspectives of their learning arc. Each metaphor is substantiated, illustrated and elaborated through three pieces of work, which eventually culminate into a final piece. All the pieces of work are explained through six interconnected stages, and each stage is further unpacked through actions and elements which characterise those stages.
