This three-week furniture studio began with discomfort—an unfamiliar territory for someone without a design background. What initially felt overwhelming transformed into a liberating journey of hands-on learning. I designed a bedside table inspired by the organic form of mushrooms, aiming to create a child-friendly, functional piece that sparks curiosity. Guided by structure and iteration, I moved from wild sketches to material explorations in wood and metal. Each stage—ideation, prototyping, fabrication—revealed new challenges that demanded reworking and adaptability. Visiting vendors, understanding tools, and witnessing the transformation of material deepened my respect for craft. Rather than chasing perfection, I embraced refinement as a rhythm—each flaw becoming a step forward. This project wasn’t just about building furniture; it was about reshaping my understanding of design itself—as a responsive, evolving process that finds purpose through making.
