Blossoming
When I decided to foray into PGDP at SMI, the principle of open-mindedness was my guiding compass. The programme reinforced and reinvented the meaning of this notion. Every studio, seminar and project space expanded my horizons of thought thereby adding new dimensions to my field of view.
Transformation and growth accompanied open-mindedness thereafter on my learning journey. It wasn’t just a matter of approach anymore, but also action.
PGDP entailed extending my humanities education background by not assuming it to be a boundary. Navigating the present became a process of negotiating with the past to realise a “way toward” not just a “move forward”.
These three pieces of work that I delved into during the PGDP at SMI are best understood through the metaphor of blossoming, signifying the seasons of time that nurture becoming, a journey unfolding in segments of the present while carrying the misted scent of what is yet to come.
